Resumen
Difundimos el conocimiento de un departamento del Centro Geográfico del Ejército, el Archivo Cartográfico y de Estudios Geográficos, un referente para el estudio de la historia de la cartografía en general y de la militar en particular. El objetivo es contribuir a la difusión de un patrimonio histórico documental que constituye una fuente de información esencial para el conocimiento del territorio y de su evolución. Se describen, de forma breve, los antecedentes históricos, los fondos y su procedencia, los instrumentos de descripción y la organización. Finaliza el artículo con una breve síntesis de lo que constituye nuestro objetivo prioritario, la difusión a través de un ambicioso proyecto de digitalización.

Abstract
We spread the knowledge of a department of the Army Geographical Center, the Cartographic Archive and Geographic Studies. This archive is essential to study the History of the Cartography in general and the military cartography in particular. Without any doubt, the aim of this archive is to contribute to the diffusion of the historical and documentary heritage being an essential source of information to know the territory ant its evolution. The historical background, the collection and origin are described briefly as well as the description of the instruments and the organization of them. The article finishes with a brief sinthesis of the challenging and priority project of digitalization.
