Resumen
La historia del Centro Geográfico del Ejército ha estado ligada a lo que fueron de alguna forma sus precursores: el Cuerpo de Estado Mayor, el Depósito de la Guerra, la Brigada Obrera y Topográfica de Estado Mayor y a la Agrupación Obrera y Topográfica. Se trata de una Unidad eminentemente técnica y singular dentro del Ejército en cuanto a los cometidos que realiza. Fue creado en 1939, inicialmente con el nombre de Servicio Geográfico y Cartográfico del Ejército y, posteriormente, en 1998 cambió su denominación a la actual de «Centro Geográfico del Ejército». Su misión principal consiste en proporcionar a los usuarios militares la información y el apoyo geoespacial necesarios para el planeamiento y conducción de operaciones militares. Asimismo, es el órgano responsable del asesoramiento en los aspectos operativos, logísticos y técnicos en materia de geodesia y topografía.

Abstract
The history of the Army Geographic Center has been linked to what were its prescursors: the General Staff, the Deposit of War, the Worker and Topographic Brigade of the General Staff and the Worker and Topographic Group. It is an eminently technical and unique Unit within the Army in terms of the tasks it performs. Initially, it was created in 1939, under the name of the Army Geographic and Cartographic Service and, subsequently, in 1998 it changed its name to the current one of “Army Geographic Center”. Its main mission is to provide military users with the geospatial information and support necessary for the planning and conduct of military operations. It is also the body responsible for advising on the operational, logistical and technical aspects of geodesy and topography.
